Avenida Vierira Souto is a highly sought-after address. It runs along Ipanema Beach in Rio de Janeiro, and is the location of some of Brazil's most expensive residential real estate. That includes the Cap Ferrat building. This exclusive high-rise property received a complete refurbishment in 2017, and, as part of the work, architect Juan Carlos Di Filippo asked Q-railing to provide balcony railings. The Easy Glass Slim glass balustrade system was selected for the project.
Ipanema is one of the most desirable parts of Rio de Janeiro. Famous for its beautiful golden beach, the neighbourhood also plays an important role in the city’s cultural life, thanks to its galleries, theatres and cafes.
Rising to more than 67 metres, the Cap Ferrat tower commands breathtaking views of the beach, the majestic Corcovado mountain and the whole skyline of Rio, including the famous statue of Christ the Redeemer. The 600-square-metre apartments are filled with luxurious materials, and allow residents to take full advantage of the spectacular setting, thanks to their large floor-to-ceiling windows. On the rooftop, a lush garden with a pool has been provided.
During the renovation programme, it was clearly a priority to maintain, and if possible enhance this luxurious feel. As regards the balcony railings, the chosen solution not only had to deliver high-end looks, but also maximum transparency and extremely high levels of safety.
Di Filippo planned a complete makeover for the tower’s exterior. To match the extravagant interiors, his design specified high-end materials, including Easy Glass Slim for the balcony railings. The system’s ability to provide huge areas of uninterrupted glass without compromising on safety was key to this decision. It was also easy to install, and came at an attractive price. Q-railing added extra value by assisting the architect with full-service project support.
In total, installer GMM Engenharia mounted an impressive 1,450 metres of Easy Glass Slim to provide balcony railings and an enclosure for the rooftop garden.
