In Amstelveen, the Netherlands, a former office building was recently refurbished and converted to a medical center. Although the center offers no first aid or complex surgery it operates fully as a small-scale hospital. It has its own medical specialities and specialists and works closely together with several other healthcare services. Being small-scale makes it possible for the Amstelveen Medical Center to be more flexible with very short waiting lists.
About the project
At first the installers involved in the refurbishment were hesitant to install a glass balustrade. But the owner of Amstelveen Medical Center insisted on clear lines and open spaces for his patients. He felt a glass balustrade was the only way to achieve this and contacted Q-railing who demonstrated their Easy Glass® Slim system. 90 metres are now sitting proudly on the stairs and on several floors of the medical center.
