Situated in Pwllheli, in the heart of North Wales, Venu is a premier destination for dining, dancing, arts and culture. Set in a beautiful waterfront location, it is undoubtedly one of the most stunning attractions in the region. When Victoria Morris acquired the premises in 2014, her challenge was to convert a former carpet warehouse into a modern, atmospheric venue, suitable for a wide variety of entertainment and events – big bands, DJs, comedy nights, local arts, weddings and much more. The planned capacity was 150 people. By summer 2015, this ambitious refurbishment had been completed.
About the project
The installer at Venu, Sunrock Resources, had incorporated Q-railing solutions into previous projects, and knew about the company’s strong focus on quality. So, the decision to work with Q-railing again was straightforward. Sunrock also had a track record of turning complex design ideas into reality. This was certainly necessary in the Venu project, since the architectural plan included a restaurant, a lounge area, a dance floor, a VIP area and a balcony at first floor level. On the second floor, a roof terrace was planned, which incorporated a balustrade system. The balustrade design delivered unbeatable safety without sacrificing transparency. The result is a stunning, uninterrupted view of the surrounding waterfront.
This could only be achieved with the help of high-quality products, in particular the Q-line railing with MOD 28 glass clamps, 48.3 mm posts and handrails, offset handrail brackets – installed on the inside of the posts for enhanced safety – and 10 mm glass infills. In total, more than 40 metres of balustrade were mounted. Modern and minimal in appearance, this solution nevertheless offered considerable time and cost savings. Local feedback was extremely positive concerning the renovation as a whole, and it was subsequently named Best Commercial Interior Design Project at the Northern Design Awards.
