Albate is a historic Italian village of approximately 7,000 inhabitants that lies at the foot of Mount Goi, not far from Lake Como. In 2015, the Albate Centro residential apartment complex was built in the town centre. It incorporates a balcony design that uses a very special aluminium railing from Q-railing. The project demonstrates how looks and affordability can go hand in hand.
About the project
Albate Centro consists of several high-grade apartment blocks, erected on a former silk-processing site. The 5storey buildings have a chic modern look, thanks to their striking glass façades. A baluster railing enhances and protects the apartment balconies as well as the terrace areas around the elegantly recessed top floor. The whole complex overlooks a beautifully landscaped garden, which creates a sense of tranquillity and spaciousness.
When the architects and designers were developing their plan for Albate Centro, modernity and spaciousness were key criteria. Affordability was also a major requirement, which meant that project costs had to be kept low. Q-railing was able to ensure that the balcony design, incorporating Duo Line aluminium railing, met all of these conditions without compromising on quality. The result is a chic, modern balcony design that delivers safety and privacy without making the apartments feel cloistered.
Duo Line is well suited to projects that require a contemporary look – whether indoors or outdoors. In the case of Albate Centro, the aluminium railing is part of a balcony design that includes the system’s anthracite grey powder coated balusters, stainless steel elements and glass infill. This was achieved for a modest price, proving that a quality doesn’t have to break the budget.
In total, Mazza & Franchi installed 900 metres of the Duo Line aluminium railing with glass infill.
