You can classify the railings roughly into 3 system types:
glass railings, baluster railings and wall-mounted handrails.

Diversity in glass railings

Glass railings
A glass railing is a railing with a glass infill. Note that in this case the glass infill is the bearing component of the construction. That means if someone leans of bumps against the glass, the glass will absorb the force and prevent the person from falling.

In the Q-railing range, such glass railings are part of the Easy Glass. They are always mounted with base shoes, base glass clamps or glass adapters. These carry the glass panels, after which you can add a tubular U-profile on top of the glass or handrail alongside the glass. With glass railings you can easily maintain lines of sight and create an open design. They are therefore perfect for balconies, mezzanine floors, open stairways, atriums or grandstands, for example.

Railings with balusters

Baluster railings
A baluster railing is an aluminium or stainless steel railing with uprights. It is the whole baluster and handrail structure that absorbs the leaning or bumping forces. Glass can also be used as the infill for this type of railing. But you will also find bars, web and cables in our range as infill options. Baluster railings can be installed on horizontal floor sections of balconies or mezzanine floors, for example, but they are also very suitable for use as stair railings.

Wall railings
In the Q-railing range, a wall railing is a handrail that is mounted against a wall with handrail brackets. Round, square, flat – everything is possible. The most common situation where you will encounter this type of railing is along a staircase.

Wall mounted handrails

A large number of Q-railing components are interchangeable, even if they are from different systems or have different shapes. In this way you can easily create a custom railing, one that matches your design vision and your customer’s wishes. And you can confidently take on challenges such as difficult corners, uneven floors and tight spaces, because you will always find a suitable railing solution.

Railing systems and products from Q-railing are available in different materials. Stainless steel and aluminium are very popular, but coated steel and zinc are also widely used.

Stainless steel
Stainless steel is a strong metal with a beautiful finish. Q-railing’s stainless steel components are made of either 304 or 316 stainless steel. The first is recommended for indoor railings. The second contains 2% molybdenum, which makes the surface of the stainless steel extra resistant to corrosion resulting from hairline cracks, bends and indentations. Grade 316 stainless steel is therefore excellent for use on outdoor railings.

This strong material is lightweight and corrosion resistant because it has a natural protective oxide layer. We have further strengthened this layer for a large proportion of our aluminium products, such as base shoes for glass railings, with an extra strong anodised layer of 25μ.

Steel is a strong and attractively priced material. However, untreated steel is prone to scratches and corrosion. Therefore, steel Q-railing products are coated with a cathodic protective layer (e-coating). This is a perfect base coat for applying a paint or powder coating, allowing you to finish the product whichever way you like.

Do you have an order for a railing with for example glass clamps where price is the biggest factor? Then use zinc castings. We have already provided a large part of our zinc products with a protective layer or coloured coating, but we also have zinc products you can have processed yourself. But even if varnished or coated, we only recommend them for indoor use.

If you choose our products, you can expect the highest quality. We source only the best materials for Q-railing systems and we pay a great deal of attention to the finish, accurate dimensions and tolerances. This ensures that parts are well matched and fit snugly, which saves time during installation and ensures a seamless end result. In addition, you can of course count on it that the installation proceeds quickly in many other respects as well. You simply mount a large number of our railing components with clamps or glues, and where parts are mounted by screwing or anchoring, we ensure that you will need a minimum of fastening materials.
